Is Audiowide a good choice for a logo?

Wide, squared, rounded-corner shapes with a distinctly 1980s hi-fi and sci-fi feel. That makes it a natural fit for gaming, audio and retro-futurist brands.

Display faces were drawn to be seen large. Their spacing is tighter than a text face, their details are finer, and their proportions assume the reader is looking at a headline rather than a browser tab. That makes them excellent for an app icon at 512 pixels and unreliable at 16. The practical approach is to design the mark at display size, export the full icon set, then look specifically at the smallest PNG and the favicon.ico — and if the letter has collapsed, keep the display face for the large sizes and use a simplified shape for the small ones.

What to watch for at small sizes

Its width means a single letter needs a wide canvas or a big size reduction.

A favicon is rendered at 16 × 16 pixels. That is roughly the area of a single character of this paragraph, and it is where most typographic decisions stop mattering and start breaking. The reliable test is not to zoom out of a large preview — browsers resample that far more kindly than a real favicon pipeline does — but to export the actual favicon.ico and look at it in a browser tab.

The editor loads the Audiowide TTF from Google Fonts, parses it with opentype.js, and converts the glyph into an SVG <path> at weight 400. Audiowide ships as a single weight, so the weight control has no effect on it — adjust presence with optical size instead. Because the export contains outlines rather than text, the mark renders identically for every visitor whether or not they have the font, and it stays crisp at any size.
