The F is the most lopsided capital in the alphabet. All of its mass sits in the upper-left, and its bottom-right quadrant is completely empty. Centring an F geometrically produces something that visibly leans up and to the left. It is also unusually narrow, and unlike the E it has no lower arm to anchor it to the baseline, so it appears to float.
Push the F down and right from the geometric centre until it looks balanced — this letter needs more manual offset than almost any other. A serif face helps considerably here, because the foot serif at the base of the stem gives the bottom of the letter something to sit on. If you stay with a sans, consider a heavier weight so the stem itself carries more visual anchoring.
The F holds together well at 16px because it has only one enclosed slot rather than the E's two. Its problem at small sizes is that it starts to look like a poorly-rendered E or P — make sure the top arm extends noticeably further right than the middle bar.
The F's empty lower-right quadrant is an opportunity: a following A, J or T can tuck underneath the top arm, producing a genuinely tight lockup. FF and FB are harder because the second letter has nowhere to go.

Geometric centring and optical centring are not the same thing. Nudge the F until it looks centred, not until the numbers say it is.
Corner radius changes the mood more than the font does. A 0% square reads as technical, 20% as an app icon, 50% as a personal avatar.
