Letter H Logo Maker

A live, editable H monogram you can download as SVG or PNG right now — plus what the shape of a H actually demands from a logo designer.

Two vertical stems joined by a single horizontal crossbar at roughly the midpoint — perfectly symmetrical left to right.

What the letter H demands of a monogram

The H is the most structurally stable capital there is: symmetrical, wide, evenly weighted, with a single generous crossbar. Its problem is the opposite of most letters — it is boring. Two verticals and a bar give you almost nothing to characterise, so an H monogram in a neutral sans is genuinely indistinguishable from an H monogram in a different neutral sans. The two open counters above and below the bar also mean an H carries less ink than its width suggests.

Making a H sit properly in a square

Because the skeleton gives you nothing, put the personality somewhere else: a distinctive face with unusual proportions (Karla, Syne, Space Grotesk), an off-centre crossbar, a strong gradient background, or a container shape other than a rounded square. Alternatively lean into the H's stability with a very heavy weight and a tight fit — an H that fills its square edge-to-edge is a legitimately strong mark.

The H at favicon size

The H is among the best-performing letters at 16px. Its two counters are large and open, and the symmetry means antialiasing degrades both sides equally, which the eye tolerates well.

Pairing the H with a second letter

The H's straight sides make it the most cooperative letter in the alphabet for lockups. HA, HB, HC, HM all work with default spacing. Only HI is a problem, because the H's right stem and the I read as three parallel bars.

Why this preview uses Space Grotesk

The H offers no shape of its own, so it needs a face with opinions — Space Grotesk's angled terminals give an otherwise generic letter a recognisable silhouette. See what Space Grotesk looks like as an icon , or swap it for any of the 900+ Google Fonts in the editor.

Turning a H into a usable icon set

1. Fix the optical centre

Geometric centring and optical centring are not the same thing. Nudge the H until it looks centred, not until the numbers say it is.

2. Choose the container

Corner radius changes the mood more than the font does. A 0% square reads as technical, 20% as an app icon, 50% as a personal avatar.

3. Export the whole set

The editor's Web Icons export produces ten PNG sizes, an SVG, a favicon.ico, a manifest and the HTML to install it all.

Design your own letter H logo

Open the free editor, change the font, colours, corner radius and spacing, then export SVG, PNG, ICO or a complete favicon package. No account, no watermark.
