Letter N Logo Maker

A live, editable N monogram you can download as SVG or PNG right now — plus what the shape of a N actually demands from a logo designer.

Two verticals joined by a single diagonal running from the top-left to the bottom-right.

What the letter N demands of a monogram

The N is stable and wide-ish, with one large counter split diagonally into two triangles. Its main difficulty is the two junctions where the diagonal meets the verticals: these are acute angles that trap ink at the top-left and bottom-right. In very heavy weights those corners go solid, and the diagonal appears to bulge. The N is also frequently mistaken for a reversed Z or, in geometric faces, for an H with a slipped crossbar.

Making a N sit properly in a square

Check the two acute junctions at your chosen weight — faces with slight ink traps cut into those corners (IBM Plex Sans, Public Sans) handle heavy weights far better than faces without. Keep the N at or below 700 weight unless you have verified the corners. The N fills a square well at full size, so scale it up generously; unlike the M it does not need compression.

The N at favicon size

The N holds up well at 16px provided the corners have not filled in. If they have, the letter reads as a solid rectangle with a faint diagonal — reduce the weight rather than the size.

Pairing the N with a second letter

NN and NM produce a repetitive vertical rhythm that reads as a fence rather than as letters. The N pairs well with round letters — NO, NC and NG all work with default spacing because the N's flat right side gives the curve a clean starting point.

Why this preview uses IBM Plex Sans

IBM Plex Sans cuts small ink traps at the N's acute junctions, which is precisely where heavier grotesques go solid. See what IBM Plex Sans looks like as an icon , or swap it for any of the 900+ Google Fonts in the editor.

Turning a N into a usable icon set

1. Fix the optical centre

Geometric centring and optical centring are not the same thing. Nudge the N until it looks centred, not until the numbers say it is.

2. Choose the container

Corner radius changes the mood more than the font does. A 0% square reads as technical, 20% as an app icon, 50% as a personal avatar.

3. Export the whole set

The editor's Web Icons export produces ten PNG sizes, an SVG, a favicon.ico, a manifest and the HTML to install it all.

Design your own letter N logo

Open the free editor, change the font, colours, corner radius and spacing, then export SVG, PNG, ICO or a complete favicon package. No account, no watermark.
